Ashford & District 5 and 10 mile
Linda Delport was the star of the show at the inaugural Ashford & District 5 and 10 mile run on Sunday 28th October. She completed the run in 4th place for the ladies and collected the 1st place trophy for the VW40-49 category, achieving a PB along the way of 1:19:16.

Justin Burden ran a new best time, finishing in 1:20:33. Alison Waters and Kyleigh Austen also both ran personal best times of 1:29:23 and 1:29:26 respectively. Corrie Shackle was close behind in 1:30:57 and Nicola Barton finished in 1:31:15. Clare Maxlow completed the course in 2:08:38.
In the 5 mile race, Ashford Striders’ Rebecca Hurley was the first team member to finish; she achieved a great time of 47:26. Toyah Bicker achieved a new personal best of 56:41 with Alison Button and Jason Sanders running together in 57:48. It was also a new PB for Button.
Danielle Moss and Catherine Lane came in just one second apart with times of 1:14:20 and 1:14:21 respectively.
Beachy Head Marathon
A team of Striders tackled the notoriously tough Beachy Head Marathon on Saturday 27th October. Peter Lane was first home in a time of 5:45:46. Nicola Crawley completed the undulating course in 6:05:45, with Cris Francis and Kath Atkinson finishing shortly behind in 6:07:27.
Lee Valley Velo Park Half Marathon
Lee Standen was the lone Strider competing in the Lee Valley Velo Park Half Marathon on Saturday 27th October. He set a new personal best time for the distance in 2:04:03.
Parkrun
At Ashford Parkrun Ross Sadd was the first to finish in 11th place overall setting an impressive time of 21:23. Justin Burden was 37th in a time of 23:07. Josh Whiten (24:16) and Emma Jeffery (24:59) both set times under the 25 minute mark, with Jeffery finishing in the top 10 ladies.
Mark Archer was next to finish for Striders in 25:28 with Rebecca Hurley (28:19), Rachel Brisley (28:39) and Clare Dunn (29:22) all coming in under the half hour mark. Rachel Oliver achieved a new Parkrun PB with a time of 31:13. Tyree Spicer (32:56) and Clare Maxlow (35:18 – new PB) the remaining Striders to finish. Allison Button was this week’s volunteer tail walker.
Danielle Moss travelled further afield this week to take part in the Banstead Woods parkrun and set a time of 44:07.
