Brett Owler Races

There was a double podium for Ashford Striders who had ladies in the top 3 in the Marathon and Half Marathon distances at the Brett Owler races this weekend. Kath Atkinson ran an impressive race in the Marathon, with a sub-4 hour finish of 3:59:03 taking third place for the ladies. Peter Lane also ran an excellent race in a time of 4:35:19.
In the Half marathon, Linda-Jean Delport also took third place overall for the ladies finishing in a time of 1:45:00, a new personal best. Cris Francis also finished in sub 2 hours in a time of 1:58:25. James Miller ran a time of 2:11:29. Clare Maxlow completed the race in 2:59:33.
Willem Delport took part in the 10k race and finished in a time of 1:01:24, setting a new PB for the distance.
Mo-Run Whitstable

Rachel Oliver finished her first competitive 10k race in a time of 1:04:36 on the coastal course. Toyah Bicker completed the run in 1:10:27, a new PB for her, and Danielle Moss also set a new PB in 1:22:20, taking 6 minutes off of her previous best time for the distance. Kirsty Theobold, coming back from injury, finished in a time of 1:23:53. Allison Button ran the 5k race in a time of 34:52.
Samphire Hoe Challenge
Ruth Goddard took on the Saxons, Vikings & Normans challenge, completing an incredible 26.8 miles in the 6 hour endurance run.
Ashford Parkrun
This weekend’s Victoria Park 5k saw Alison Waters leading the Striders home in a time of 25:11 to finish as 8th female overall. Nicola Crawley was the next to finish for Striders in a time of 26:53 and 15th female.
Mark Archer was next to finish in 29:50 followed by Willem Delport in 31:28. Rachel Oliver hit a new PB in a time of 31:01 with Pam Hunt finishing in 39:53.
Cris Francis was this week’s tail walker with Kath Atkinson, Clare Maxlow, Lee Standen, Linda-Jean Delport and Tamsin Ritchie all taking on volunteer roles.
Parkrun Tourism
Rebecca Hurley travelled to Hertfordshire to take part in the Westmill Parkrun, which she completed in a time of 31:38 that placed her in 8th position for the ladies overall.
