Weekly Report

Ashford Parkrun

An excellent run by Paul McDonnell secured him a top 3 finish at this week’s run, in a time of 19:09.  Duncan Forbes also made the top 10 with 6th place in 20:07.  Justin Burden was the 3rd Strider in 54th position and in a time of 24:10.  He was closely followed by Linda-Jean Delport, in 24:28 – 9th female overall.  Greg Johnson finished in 24:34 and Jason Sanders in 24:35, with Daniel Forbes in 25:01.  Emma Jeffery and Josh Whiten both posted times of 26:04, with Emma securing a top 20 ladies position (17th).  Rebecca Hurley (27:02), and Mark Archer (27:55) were next to finish, followed by Rachel Forrester who ran a new personal best time of 28:29.  Vicky Stevenson (28:31) and Mel Cox (28:47) both completed the 5k run in under 30 minutes.

Stephen Rumsey ran a time of 30:01 and Tyree Spicer was next to finish in 30:09.  They were followed by Rachel Oliver (30:22) and Hazel Forrester (30:55). Toyah Bicker was this week’s volunteer tail walker.

Dark Star River Marathon

Dave Hunt took part in the challenging and muddy Dark Star River trail marathon in Sussex.  Conditions were tough but Dave finished the race in a very credible time of 6:09:39.

Canterbury 10 Mile

A team of 9 Striders took part in the Invicta East Kent Athletics club Canterbury 10 mile race on Sunday.  The hilly course was made all the more challenging with a strong cold wind.

Of the 1,411 runners taking part Jake Davison was the first home for the Club in 200th place overall in a time of 1:14:04.  Linda-Jean Delport finished in 273rd place overall in 1:17:11 and in 9th position for her age group.  Jason Wearn completed the run in 1:22:16 – 419th place overall.  Jason Sanders (1:24:25) and Greg Johnson (1:24:30) managed a friendly competitive sprint finish, in 505th and 509th positions.  The remaining runners were Alison Waters (1:35:49), Cris Francis (1:35:49), Reece Corner (1:42:50) and Tyree Spicer (1:42:44).
