Good Evening and Happy Sunday Strider’s!
We have had some awful weather this week, I myself have managed to dodge the rain on every run, which is definitely a win!
Everyone has been super busy this weekend will all sorts of races, so buckle up, we are ready to begin…
STRIDER’S ROUNDERS
We will start with Friday Evening with the Strider’s Rounders Match. Organised by Nicola Crawley, a group of Strider’s headed over to Victoria Park to test out their Rounders skills. There was plenty of competitiveness, fun and laughs had by all!
Overall, the winning team won by just one point, well done to everyone who took part!🏏 sending best wishes to Lin also!
GREAT NORTH 5K
Jamie Penfold headed North to complete his first run of three over the weekend! Jamie completed the Great North 5K in an impressive time of 22:50. Nice little warm up for the weekend ahead!😋
RYE SUMMER SERIES
The last race of the Rye Summer Series took place on Friday. Three Strider’s headed down to take on the 5K route. First finished was Lionel Hammond, finishing in 31:14, following was Amy Hook in 32:00, and Donna Hammond in 32:19.
Next we come to Saturday Morning, PARKRUN day for so many!!
ASHFORD PARKRUN
Simon Pharoah finished first of all Strider’s in a time of 19:02, followed by Keith Haynes 20:10, Jack Farrant 21:03, Neil Wood 21:13 and Kevan Strand 21:58. Adam Booth followed next with 22:03. Scott Hawkins and his new trainers ignored their planned ‘easy run’ and bought home a course PB with a time of 24:37. Michael Ruck finished next with 25:22, Chloe Stott 25:27, Hazel Turner 25:39 and Lee Gribben 26:45. Matthew Beasley opted for a parkrun rather than an ultra today, finishing in 27:49. Daniel Schwartz finished in 27:50, followed by David Gadsby in 27:52. Darren Laker finished parkrun finishing his half marathon distance in 29:37, with Lisa Gribben hot on his heels in 29:38. Tamsin Ritchie and Cathy Wall were in the 30’s club with times of 30:08 and 30:19. Rob Harris, also running crazy distances finished in 31:01 finishing his half marathon distance. David Helme was next in 31:33, Kat Silvester 32:22, Penny Grigg 34:12 and Rachel Tomsett 34:13. Leigh Freeman followed in 36:12, Jason Brice 36:19, Jennifer Watts 37:56 and Clare Nunn 41:18. Last but certainly not least was Julie Nicholson as Tailwalker, in 63:54.

Now onto Parkrun Tourism..
CANTERBURY PARKRUN
Gary Tiley headed down to Canterbury Parkrun. He raced a juggling runner who seemed to be running incredibly fast considering the circumstances!!😆 Gary finished in a time of 23:57.
CARLISLE PARKRUN
Jamie Penfold completed his second race of the weekend, finishing in a slightly more chilled time of 26:47 ahead of his half tomorrow!
EASTBOURNE PARKRUN
Gaining herself a shiny new PB, and now in the sub 24 club is Alice Foulger who completed her run in 23:45. Great running Alice, congratulations!
FAIRVIEW PARKRUN
Martin Whittingham headed to Fairview Parkrun and completed the course in 37:59.
HADLEIGH PARKRUN
Nicola Crawley and Justine Wearn completed another parkrun together, finishing in 37:22 and 38:01. We love to see the starting photo of them both, always in the air🤩
LEYBOURNE LAKES
Maria Chapman opted for a pretty parkrun, and completes Leybourne Lakes in 30:14.
WARNER AND DEAL PARKRUN
Isobel Phillips completed her first Parkrun after having baby Grace. Isobel ran with her sister and completed the course in a time of 35:36. SHE’S BACK!! Well done Isobel!
RISING SUN PARKRUN
Victoria Shrubsole and Andrew Cornwell completed the Rising Sun parkrun ahead of the Great North run finishing in 35:55 and 35:56.
SHORNE WOOD
Isabelle Froissart complete Shorne Wood Parkrun in a time of 30:56.
WOODBANK PARKRUN
Terry Sellen strayed from the usual Ashford Parkrun, and took on Woodbank Parkrun whilst visiting family. He completed the course in 25:06.
WHITLEY BAY
Another couple up North, Harry Lockhart and Eloise Pegg completed Whitley Bay parkrun. I hear there was some small competition between the Pegg family on who was going to be first across the line, Harry was happy to take that crown!
Harry finished in 23:22 and Eloise in 25:51. Well done guys.
THE LEAS
A group of Strider’s headed down to Monster on Sea to complete The Leas Parkrun. First to finish was Steve Rumsey in 24:51. Followed by Lionel Hammond in 26:05. Justine Burden in 26:07, Richard Randle in 29:22, Dee Millen in 34:34, Nige Terry in 35:27, Donna Hammond in 36:08, Katarzyna Janas in 39:32, Helen Rumsey in 39:44 and Laura Clark in 54:51.
BACKYARD ULTRA
Luke Marsh and George Cromwell took on the Backyard Ultra course. The guys completed laps of 4.167 miles (6.7km) in the hour, every hour. Well done guys, some great endurance there!!
Sunday was a very busy day for racing this weekend, from London to Newcastle.
BATTEL BONFIRE BOYES BBB 10K
The BBB 10k takes runners through the pretty and historic streets of Battle. A few Strider’s headed down to take on the challenge. First over the line was Lionel Hammond in a time of 58:41. Next was Richard Randle in a time of 1:00:52, followed by Dee Millen in 1:13:11 and Donna Hammond in 1:16:38.
JULIE ROSE HALF MARATHON/MARATHON
Taking on the half marathon distance running around the 400m track at the Julie Rose Stadium is Amy Hook. Amy finished in a time of 2:45:45. Congratulations Amy!
THE BIG HALF
A group of Strider’s completed a half marathon around the streets of London. Josh Stephen’s completed the route with an impressive PB of 1:45:15!! A huge congratulations!!!🙌 following was Jason Brice who vowed he was taking a ‘jog’ around London finished in 2:24:55. That’s a decent jog Jase, I hope the pie and mash was good!😉 Next was Aimee Donahue who finished in 2:27:31 with a course PB. Well done to you all!!
THE GREAT NORTH RUN
Heading up north now to congratulate those who have completed the great north run. First over the line was Simon Pharoah in a time of 1:27:24. Next was Jamie Penfold finishing in 1:53:02 with a course PB! Coming behind was Sharon Gardner in 2:32:33. Following was Claire Iley in 2:35:56. Last but not least, crossing the line together was Victoria Shrubsole, and Andrew Cornwell in 2:38:07. Well done to you all!!
BEWL WATER SWIM RUN
Nicola took on the challenge including some running, but also swimming! 5km of running was completed as well as 1.4km swimming. Nic finished in 1:21:30. Congrats!
