Where do you meet?

Monday and Tuesday sessions meet up at various places according to the type of session being put on. Please contact us for details.

Thursdays meeting place is the Ashford Railway Club in Beaver Road at 6.45pm

What do you do on a Monday and Tuesday session?

 Monday’s and Tuesday’s are technique sessions, working on either stamina, strength, speed, hills and the occasional runs.

What do you do on a Thursday session?

 Thursday is run day with a choice of six runs at varying paces.

What is UKA membership?

Once you become a member of the club, you can apply for UKA membership. UKA membership enables you to reduced race place prices and other benefits through UKA and its sponsors. The cost of this is £19 which can be paid via the club shop. Once received, our membership secretary will do the necessary paperwork for you.

Marathon Places

As a club we get allocated a place, each year, for the London Marathon (subject to us exceeding a minimum number of affiliated members). To be considered for this place members have to meet the following criteria.

  • You must have been a Strider for at least one year prior to the place being allocated.
  • You must be UKA affiliated, with Striders being your first claim club.
  • You should not have competed in the London Marathon within the previous 5 years. This is to give those members that have never had the opportunity a better chance of winning a place in this iconic event.
  • You should not already have been allocated a place, either through ballot or through a charity, in that years Marathon.

Eligible members, who wish to considered, will be entered into a draw. Successful members will be required to run in a striders top, and can not transfer their place to someone else.

How much is Club Membership?

Membership to Ashford Striders is £25 per calendar year. If you join between January and March, it will also include the following years membership. The renewal date is the 1st April each year.

Do you do Couch to 5k programmes?

Yes we do. These are done throughout the year. Keep an eye on the website for the dates and details.

What if i’m not very fast?

Not a problem. All our sessions a suitable for all abilities and on run days no one gets left behind.

Do you cater for children?

While our coaching staff are all DBS checked, the club does not accept members under 18 years of age.

Can I buy club kit?

Yes you can visit our club shop.

Can I just turn up or do I need to sign in?

You need to complete a Free Taster Session form or, contact the members secretary Vicky Shrubsole on enquiries@ashfordstriders.uk, to arrange your trial run. Please allow at least 24 hours for your request to be processed.

Will I enjoy myself?

Yes you will.
